Political Contexts and Ukrainian Subjectivity on the Examples of High-Profile Premieres in Key Art Forms. Cultural Guide into the XX–XXI Centuries

Abstract

The article uses examples of high-profile premieres in key art forms in the XX–XXI centuries to demonstrate the importance of cultural diplomacy in the process of statehood formation, political contexts in works of art, and the political resonance of their presentations.

For several centuries, Ukrainians have been fighting for the right to have their own independent state. Therefore, our cultural heritage can be evaluated not only as the result of creative work, but also through the prism of political contexts. Even if it does not contain explicit political content, almost every Ukrainian work of art has a certain political context, as it testifies to the cultural national heritage of Ukrainians, their identity, and the right to an independent state. Therefore, the article leads us to the conclusion that, especially in times of difficult challenges, the state, in cooperation with artists and the entire creative class, is able to receive great political dividends and defend the right to its own subjectivity.
